The La Rue House was built by Lumber Baron Lawrence Crane, ca. 1890. Dr. Frank and Nurse Ellen La Rue opened Benzie County's first hospital here. We are located in the charming, historic village of Elberta on Betsie Bay.
The La Rue House offers a wealth of historical experiences and leisure activities, including:
- an antiques/collectibles corner
- a croquet set and a ping pong table (paddles and balls included)
- the La Rue medical museum
- a large collection of books
- parlor games
- a piano and a pump organ.
